Today is Friday, Feb. 24. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Some snow: There’s a chance of some snow for your morning commute. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Friday is expected to be 42 degrees. There’s a chance of some snow before 9 a.m., but that will change over to rain by the morning. It should be rainy throughout the day with a possibility of some more snow late Friday night.
  2. Shingles:  There are a limited amount of shingles shots available for Winchester residents. Each shot costs $87 and you must be at least 50 years old. The vaccine is covered by Medicare Part D. For those who have a limited income and insurance that does not cover the shingles vaccine, financial help is available through the Merck Vaccine Assistance Program. To be eligible, the income guidelines are as follows: an individual making less than $43,320 or a couple making less than $58,280. 
  3. FAN Softball: The Family Action Network softball team will be holding its preseason meeting Tuesday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. at the Black Horse Tavern. Anyone interested in playing can attend the meeting.
