Today is the last day for candidates to obtain nomination papers.

Today is Friday, Feb. 3. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Sunny and clear: It should be a nice, sunny day today. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Friday is expected to be 37 degrees. It should be sunny throughout the day with some clouds rolling in late.  
  2. Town Election: Looking to get involved in town government? The Board of Selectmen, School Committee and Planning Board will each have two seats up for re-election. Interested candidates can pick up nomination papers at the Town Clerk’s office. Friday, Feb. 3 is the last day for candidates to obtain nomination papers and Tuesday, Feb. 7 is the final day to submit them. Town elections will be held on Tuesday, March 27.
  3. Census: Annual will be mailed to Winchester residents during the week of January 9. All households must respond to the mailing by February 15. In the mailings will be Transfer Station permits and information on the fee increases.
  4. Mortimer in court: Thomas Mortimer, IV, will be back in Woburn Superior Court today at 2 p.m. for a motions hearing.
  5. Cabaret: The Winton Club Cabaret 2012 presents its “It’s About Time” to benefit Jan. 31 through Feb. 4, in the Winchester Town Hall Auditorium. Tickets start at $10. For more information and tickets, go to their site
