Today is Wednesday, Jan. 19. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Chance of rain/snow: As if wasn’t enough, there is a chance of rain and snow showers and freezing rain before noon, according to the National Weather Service, then snow showers are likely until 7 p.m. Temperatures during the day are expected to reach the high-30s, while the nighttime low should be around 20.
  2. Boys’ hoops: Coming off a 74-60 loss at Woburn, the Winchester High boys’ basketball team will look to rebound in a non-league contest against Salem at 5 p.m. at home. Salem won’t provide a real break from the Sachems’ tough Middlesex League schedule, as the team is near the top of the Northeastern Conference standings.
  3. Sachem grapplers: The Winchester High boys’ wrestling team will look to stay perfect in the Middlesex League when it hosts Melrose at 7 p.m.
  4. Community Conversations: The Board of Selectmen and Planning Board will hold a joint meeting at 7 p.m. at the Jenks Center to discuss the town center. Earlier, the Board of Selectmen will visit the Winchester Center Train Station at 3:30 p.m. and then return to Town Hall to discuss, and then meet at 6 p.m. in Town Hall to discuss the fiscal year 2012 school budget.
  5. When pigs fly: On this day in 1977, snow fell in Miami for the first and only time in the city’s history. Today, temperatures in Miami are supposed to be in the high-70s.
