Today is Monday, Jan. 16. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Late snow: It should be warmer today, but there’s a chance of some snow. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Monday is expected to be 32 degrees. It should be mostly sunny throughout the day. But by 11 p.m. there’s a chance of some snow showers.
  2. MLK Event: The Winchester Multicultural Network and the Family Action Network (FAN) invite all members of the community to join in a celebration of on Monday, Jan. 16 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the . The free event will feature a musical performance by Guy Mendilow, whose band was voted Boston's Best World Music Act in the Boston Phoenix Best Music Poll 2011. Also enjoy a display of art and writing by Winchester schoolchildren, a book fair, craft activities and refreshments.
  3. Honoring the Dream: On Monday, Jan. 16 at 7 p.m., at the of Winchester, the Winchester Inter-Faith Council invites all to a worship service "The service is designed to celebrate and continue to make real, the dream expressed by Dr. King, that this nation would be a place where all people of all diversities, would live, work and play together in a spirit of understanding and collaboration," said the Rev. Lydia Hews, pastor of First Baptist and one of the organizers of the event.  This service will build on the work of the Winchester Multi-Cultural Network and the Family Action Network, and will take place after the family celebration held at the Winchester Unitarian Church that afternoon.  
  4. Census: Annual will be mailed to Winchester residents during the week of January 9. All households must respond to the mailing by February 15. In the mailings will be Transfer Station permits and information on the fee increases.
  5. Town Election: Looking to get involved in town government? The Board of Selectmen, School Committee and Planning Board will each have two seats up for re-election. Interested candidates can pick up nomination papers at the Town Clerk’s office. The last day to obtain nomination players is Feb. 3 and the last day to submit them is Tuesday, Feb. 7.
