Today is Tuesday, Jan. 17. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Rainy day: There’s still no snow this winter. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Monday is expected to be 44 degrees. You can expect to see some rain and snow when you wake up, but by your morning commute it should be all rain. The showers will eventually move out of the are by 8 p.m.
  2. Redistricting: Come learn more and share your ideas regarding the
    purpose, process and principles of tonight at 7 p.m. at . Enrollment growth, an anticipated move of school administration to Parkhurst Elementary, and the expected opening of a larger Vinson-Owen Elementary School in September 2013 necessitate the School District redraft elementary school boundaries.   3. WCNS Open House: Come visit the School on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 7:30 p.m. for  Please call Director, Maureen McWilliams at 781-729-2003 for more information.
  4. Census: Annual will be mailed to Winchester residents during the week of January 9. All households must respond to the mailing by February 15. In the mailings will be Transfer Station permits and information on the fee increases.
  5. Town Election: Looking to get involved in town government? The Board of Selectmen, School Committee and Planning Board will each have two seats up for re-election. Interested candidates can pick up nomination papers at the Town Clerk’s office. The last day to obtain nomination players is Feb. 3 and the last day to submit them is Tuesday, Feb. 7.
