Today is Thursday, Jan. 19. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Late snow: There’s a chance of some more snow Thursday evening. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Thursday is expected to be 31 degrees. By 5 p.m. there could be some snow falling. While there’s little accumulation expected, it won’t end until 3 a.m.
  2. Wine Discovery: If you love Italian wines, would like to learn more about them, but don't know where to begin? The at the can help. The series will explore wines from five of the best regions of Italy. Each two-hour session will combine an overview of each region's geography, climate, and grape varieties with an opportunity to taste six of its best wines. A sampling of foods that complement each wine will be offered, and well as copies of tasting notes and presentation materials. Your guide through the world of Italian wine will be Jack Korpi, wine buyer for Berman's Wine and Spirits in Lexington. Jack has over 15 years of experience seeking out wines with personality that reflect the character of the land that created them. This series starts Jan. 5 and continues over five Thursday evenings until March 1. The cost of each evening is $45 per person.
  3. The way of boys: A book group discussion on on Thursday, Jan. 19, co-sponsored with the from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Library’s large meeting room. Dr. Rao, recognizing the distinct challenges of raising young boys, offers practical advice on how to raise happy and healthy men. You do not have to have read the book to participate. Books will be available at the Library circulation desk and BookEnds
  4. Daddy/daughter dance: The daddy/daughter dance, which was scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 11, at 6:30 p.m. at the Burlington Marriot.
  5. Town Election: Looking to get involved in town government? The Board of Selectmen, School Committee and Planning Board will each have two seats up for re-election. Interested candidates can pick up nomination papers at the Town Clerk’s office. The last day to obtain nomination players is Feb. 3 and the last day to submit them is Tuesday, Feb. 7.
