Today is Tuesday, Jan. 3. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Getting cold: Don’t let the mild weather fool you, apparently winter is here. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Tuesday is expected to be 28 degrees. It should be mostly sunny throughout the day. However, by Tuesday night wind chill values will make it feel like -2 degrees.
  2. Census: Annual will be mailed to Winchester residents during the week of January 9. All households must respond to the mailing by February 15. In the mailings will be Transfer Station permits and information on the fee increases.
  3. Town Manager: Richard Howard, the former Mayor of Malden, begins his new job
  4. Stadium Chair Fundraiser: Buy for $45 and support the Winchester wrestling team. Please make checks payable to Winchester Wrestling Booster Club. Contact Anne Spry anne.spry@waterfieldsir.com.
  5. Winter Parking: The winter parking ban is an effect. Vehicles parked on the street between 1 and 7 a.m. are subject to fines. Any vehicles parked on the street during a snow emergency may be fined and towed.
