Today is Wednesday, Jan. 4. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Getting colder: Tuesday may have been cold, but Wednesday promises to be even colder. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Wednesday is expected to be 26 degrees. It should be cloudy throughout the day, and with the wind chill it will feel like -6 degrees.
  2. Winter Farmers Market: Beginning Jan. 14 and running to March 17, will be hosting an at its Winchester location. The event, similar to the , will run every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
  3. Martin Luther King: The together with the Family Action Network (FAN) will host their annual celebration ofon Monday, Jan. 16, from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. in Metcalf Hall at the . There will be craft activities, refreshments, and an art display by Winchester students starting at 3 p.m. and the concert begins at 4 p.m.
  4. Census: Annual will be mailed to Winchester residents during the week of January 9. All households must respond to the mailing by February 15. In the mailings will be Transfer Station permits and information on the fee increases.
  5. Winter Parking: The winter parking ban is an effect. Vehicles parked on the street between 1 and 7 a.m. are subject to fines. Any vehicles parked on the street during a snow emergency may be fined and towed.
