Today is Friday, July 1. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Chance of rain: The drive to work this morning should be pleasant, but there could be some rain in the forecast this afternoon. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Friday is 78 degrees. There’s a chance of showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m.
  2. No construction: The that the Massachusetts Department of Transportation has been working on this summer is taking a break this weekend. Due to the Fourth of July and the assumed increase in traffic, construction will be put on hold this weekend and resume Friday, July 8.  
  3. First Time Homebuyer’s Class: The Community Service Network of Stoneham will be holding a free. The class will begin on Wednesday, July 20 and will continue for the next three Wednesday evenings. It’s sponsored by the and will run from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Pre-Registration is required and is limited to approximately 20 people.
  4. Art Show: Over 25 artists will , photographs, mosaics and sculptures of the throughout the month of July at the Beebe Estate Gallery in Melrose. The artists come from towns surrounding the Fells. Opening reception is Friday, July 1 from 7 – 9 p.m. The gallery will be open Saturdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
