Today is Thursday, July 21. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Stay cool: Today is going to be the hottest day of the summer so far, so be sure to drink plenty of fluids. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Thursday is 97 degrees with heat index values as high as 105. 
  2. On the News: Channel 4 has been doing a series of environmentally-related segments on its evening newscast, and will be in Winchester on Thursday. They taped a segment with resident Phil Coonley about his decision to install solar panels through the new , which will air sometime between 5-5:30 pm. Then Carolyn Starrett will be interviewed briefly about Sustainable Winchester, the town's and Solarize Mass in a live segment around 5:45 pm
  3. Town Hall Closed: Town Hall will be closed today for Record Retention Day. 
  4. Late Closing: Due to the expected heat over the next few days, the  at  will be closing at 7 p.m. Wednesday and Thursday night.
