Five Things You Need To Know Today, June 1

Winchester will be holding a public session to discuss some of Winchester Hospital's properties.

Today is Tuesday, June 1. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Chance of showers: Wednesday should be another warm day, but there could be some rain later today. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Wednesday will be 85 degrees. It should be mostly sunny throughout the day, but between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. there’s a chance of rain and thunderstorms, which may create hail in some spots.
  2. Hospital Discussion: The Winchester Town Manager’s Office will hold an to hear views, ideas and concerns regarding properties located at bothand on Thursday, June 9 at 7 p.m. The discussion will focus on traffic, parking, shuttle buses,and impact on the abutting neighborhoods.   The session will be held in the Jenks Room at the .
  3. Pancake Breakfast: Start off your Town Day activities with a pancake breakfast at the cafeteria at the Annual Winchester , Saturday at 9 a.m. Tickets $6 and may be purchased from a Rotary member or at the door. There will be a live disc jockey, face painting by high school students for the kids, helium balloons, and a number of raffle opportunities to benefit the Rotary charities.
  4. Rain Barrel and Compost Bin Program: The Town of Winchester has a partnership with the New England Rain Barrel Company to offer to Winchester residents at a discounted rate, for a limited time.  Typically sold for $119.95, Winchester residents may purchase the rain barrels for $72.70. The New England Rain Barrel Company will be taking orders for the rain barrels and compost bins through June 20.  Delivery of the products is scheduled for Thursday, June 23 at the Winchester Transfer Station between 4 p.m. and 7 pm.
