Today is Wednesday, June 8. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Get Ready for the heat: It may not officially be summer, but it will sure feel like it for the next two days. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Wednesday will be 92 degrees. There’s a slight chance of thunderstorms before 9 p.m. And by Wednesday night, the temperature should drop to 70 degrees.
  2. Hospital Discussion: The Winchester Town Manager’s Office will hold an to hear views, ideas and concerns regarding properties located at on Thursday, June 9 at 7 p.m. The discussion will focus on traffic, parking, shuttle buses,and impact on the abutting neighborhoods. The session will be held in the Jenks Room at the . The discussion on has been postponed due to continued litigation on the property.
  3. Hershey Track Meet: Winchester runners aged nine to 14 will get a chance to compete in the Hershey Track Meet today at the track. Registration begins at 3:30 p.m. and over 200 Winchester runners are expected to sign up. The top times will advance to the state meet and eventually could be competing in the national meet at Hershey Park.
  4. Solarize Mass: Winchester is one of four Massachusetts communities to be chosen to participate in a pilot program called Residents already participated in the first meeting at the end of May to learn about installing solar panels on their homes. The second installment, which was originally scheduled for this week has been pushed back to Thursday, June 16 at 7:30 p.m. at
