Five Things You Need To Know Today, March 1

Today is Thursday, March 1. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Snow continues: Snow will continue throughout Thursday. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Thursday is expected to be 35 degrees. Winchester could get another couple three inches of snow on Thursday, before the snow eventually moves out of the region on Friday.
  2. Freight train hearing: There will be a public meeting on Thursday at 6:30 p.m. in the Board of Selectmen Meeting Room to discuss the
  3. Kindergarten Registration: The Winchester Public Schools are holding Kindergarten registration from Feb. 17 to March 9 for the Kindergarten class entering in September of 2012. Based on the town census, registration packets have been mailed to all families with children eligible for Kindergarten in 2012.  To be eligible for Kindergarten children must be five by Sep. 1, 2012.  Completed registration materials should be dropped off or mailed to the child’s home school. If you have not received a packet or have any questions regarding the registration process please call your home district school.
  4. Absentee Ballots: Winchester residents have until Monday, March 6 to submit their absentee ballot for the Republican primaries on Tuesday, March 7.
  5. Pop Warner: There will be an information session on Thursday, March 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the .  Members of the Winchester Pop Warner Board will make a brief presentation and be available to answer any questions about the program and the upcoming season.  Interested parents are encouraged to attend.  Interested children are also welcome to join their parents at this session if they so desire. This information session is for our football and cheerleading program.
