Today is Monday, March 12. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Going to get warm: Technically it’s still winter, but temperatures could approach 70 degrees today. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Monday is expected to be 70 degrees. There should be a light breeze throughout the day, and by late Monday night temperatures will drop to 45 degrees with a slight chance of some showers. .
  2. French Delegation Visits Winchester: Winchester will welcome the Mayor, City Councilors and other civic officials from its sister city in France, . The delegation will be in town to reaffirm the bond of this 22-year-old relationship, administered locally by the Jumelage Association. Hosted in the homes of Jumelage members, the French delegation will be officially welcomed to Winchester at a reception by the Board of Selectmen at the Winchester Town Hall. This reception is open to the public, and takes place at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, March 12, in the Winchester Room.
  3. Pop Warner: An on Thursday, March 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Gymnasium.  Members of the Winchester Pop Warner Board will make a brief presentation and be available to answer any questions about the program and the upcoming season.  Interested parents are encouraged to attend.  Interested children are also welcome to join their parents at this session if they so desire. This information session is for the football and cheerleading program.
  4. Softball Clinic: This spring, the Softball program offers its spring clinic to get area youth players ready for their upcoming softball seasons.  WHS Varsity Coach Steve Swymer and his staff and players will work with clinic participants on all aspects of the game. Players will receive instruction and reinforce their softball skills through a number of drills and workout stations. The clinic will take place at the Winchester High School Gym/Field House on Saturday March 17, 24 and 31. Players in grades 4 and 5 will attend from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and grades 6, 7, and 8 will attend from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The cost is $75, visit www.eteamz.com/FriendsofWHSsoftball to register/pay online. Call 781-729-7661 or email FriendsofWHSsoftball@gmail.com for more information.
