Today is Tuesday, March 13. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Showers early: There might be some rain for your morning commute. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Tuesday is expected to be 65 degrees. There’s a chance of showers before 9 a.m., but then it should become sunny as the day goes on. By Tuesday night there’s some more chance of rain, beginning around 9 p.m.
  2. Pop Warner: An on Thursday, March 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the Gymnasium.  Members of the Winchester Pop Warner Board will make a brief presentation and be available to answer any questions about the program and the upcoming season.  Interested parents are encouraged to attend.  Interested children are also welcome to join their parents at this session if they so desire. This information session is for the football and cheerleading program.
  3. Be a parent not a pal: On Wednesday evening, March 14, The Winchester Coalition for a Safer Community, the Department and the Winchester High School Administration will hold a presentation on presented by the law firm of Campbell, Campbell, Edwards and Conroy and supported by Middlesex District Attorney Gerald Leone’s office. Presentation will take place in Auditorium, at 7:30 p.m.  “Be a Parent, Not a Pal” is a multimedia program designed to educate parents, teachers and members of the community about the Social Host Law and to illustrate the legal consequences of allowing those under the age of 21 to possess alcoholic beverages. 
  4. Softball Clinic: This spring, the Softball program offers its spring clinic to get area youth players ready for their upcoming softball seasons.  WHS Varsity Coach Steve Swymer and his staff and players will work with clinic participants on all aspects of the game. Players will receive instruction and reinforce their softball skills through a number of drills and workout stations. The clinic will take place at the Winchester High School Gym/Field House on Saturday March 17, 24 and 31. Players in grades 4 and 5 will attend from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. and grades 6, 7, and 8 will attend from 4:30 to 6 p.m. The cost is $75, visit www.eteamz.com/FriendsofWHSsoftball to register/pay online. Call 781-729-7661 or email FriendsofWHSsoftball@gmail.com for more information.
