Today is Monday, March 5. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. More wet weather: The sun should be out during the day, but that won’t last. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Friday is expected to be 36 degrees. It should be mostly sunny throughout the day, but by Friday night more snow is in the forecast. This storm should bring a mix of rain, sleet and snow throughout Friday night before turning to all rain by Saturday morning.
  2. Absentee Ballots: Winchester residents have until Monday, March 6 to submit their absentee ballot for the Republican primaries on Tuesday, March 7.
  3. Candidate questions: The League of Women Voters is There are three candidates – Michael Fiorenza, Lindsay Letteri and Bridget Stump – for one open position on the Board of Health to be elected on March 27. The League of Women Voters will be hosting an interview with these candidates to be telecast on WinCAM before the March 27 election. The LWV are seeking questions from the public to ask these candidates. Please send questions for the Board of Health candidates to the League at Winchester_forum@comcast.net
  4. Kindergarten Registration: The Winchester Public Schools are holding Kindergarten registration from Feb. 17 to March 9 for the Kindergarten class entering in September of 2012. Based on the town census, registration packets have been mailed to all families with children eligible for Kindergarten in 2012.  To be eligible for Kindergarten children must be five by Sep. 1, 2012.  Completed registration materials should be dropped off or mailed to the child’s home school. If you have not received a packet or have any questions regarding the registration process please call your home district school.
  5. Pop Warner: There will be an information session on Thursday, March 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the .  Members of the Winchester Pop Warner Board will make a brief presentation and be available to answer any questions about the program and the upcoming season.  Interested parents are encouraged to attend.  Interested children are also welcome to join their parents at this session if they so desire. This information session is for our football and cheerleading program.
