Today is Tuesday, March 6. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Still cold: While it’s supposed to warm up later in the week, it’s still going to feel like winter today. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Tuesday is expected to be 35 degrees. It should be mostly sunny throughout the day, and by Tuesday night, temperatures will drop to 25 degrees.
  2. Election Day: The Republican primary is today, and keep in mind that instead of voting at , Precincts 5 and 6 will vote at the. The polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.
  3. Candidate questions: The League of Women Voters is There are three candidates – Michael Fiorenza, Lindsay Letteri and Bridget Stump – for one open position on the Board of Health to be elected on March 27. The League of Women Voters will be hosting an interview with these candidates to be telecast on WinCAM before the March 27 election. The LWV are seeking questions from the public to ask these candidates. Please send questions for the Board of Health candidates to the League at Winchester_forum@comcast.net
  4. Kindergarten Registration: The Winchester Public Schools are holding Kindergarten registration from Feb. 17 to March 9 for the Kindergarten class entering in September of 2012. Based on the town census, registration packets have been mailed to all families with children eligible for Kindergarten in 2012.  To be eligible for Kindergarten children must be five by Sep. 1, 2012.  Completed registration materials should be dropped off or mailed to the child’s home school. If you have not received a packet or have any questions regarding the registration process please call your home district school.
  5. Pop Warner: There will be an information session on Thursday, March 15, at 6:30 p.m. at the .  Members of the Winchester Pop Warner Board will make a brief presentation and be available to answer any questions about the program and the upcoming season.  Interested parents are encouraged to attend.  Interested children are also welcome to join their parents at this session if they so desire. This information session is for our football and cheerleading program.
