Today is Wednesday, March 7. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Warming up: It’s going to start to feel a little like spring today. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Wednesday is expected to be 51 degrees. It should be sunny throughout the day and by Wednesday night temperatures will drop to 43 degrees.
  2. High School Musical: The Curtain and Cue Society presents the Broadway musical comedy, Thursday, March 8, Friday March 9 and Saturday, March 10 at 7:30 p.m. in the Winchester High School Auditorium. Tickets are available at the door for $15. For more information call 781-413-5558.
  3. Kindergarten Registration: The Winchester Public Schools are holding Kindergarten registration from Feb. 17 to March 9 for the Kindergarten class entering in September of 2012. Based on the town census, registration packets have been mailed to all families with children eligible for Kindergarten in 2012.  To be eligible for Kindergarten children must be five by Sep. 1, 2012.  Completed registration materials should be dropped off or mailed to the child’s home school. If you have not received a packet or have any questions regarding the registration process please call your home district school.
  4. Citizen of the Year: The Winchester Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors is seeking nominations from the community for qualified candidates for the . For the past 32 years, the Chamber has honored someone who was chosen for making a significant contribution toward the improvement of the business community or the overall quality of life in Winchester through his or her work. In May, there will be an evening set aside to honor this special person. The recipient’s name will be announced at the Annual Meeting of the Chamber in April. Please send letters of recommendation by Saturday, March 31 to info@winchesterchamber.com or Winchester Chamber of Commerce, 25 Waterfield Road, Winchester, MA 01890.
