Today is Tuesday, May 24. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Warm and Rainy: Be prepared for one of the hottest days since last summer. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Tuesday will be 81 degrees. But that doesn’t mean the rain is completely gone. There will be a chance of showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, beginning after 11 a.m.
  2. Solarize Mass: will kick off with a “Solar 101” presentation outlining the basics of residential (and small commercial) solar. This meeting will be held on Tuesday, May 24 at 7:30 p.m. in the auditorium. The state is only offering this as a short-term program; all solar installations must be scheduled by Sep. 30 (and completed within a year). The more people that sign up the better the price.
  3. Green Community: In March, EEA's Department of Energy Resources (DOER) awarded its latest round of grants worth $3.6 million to the state’s newest that earned the designation last December, making them eligible for awards to fund local renewable power and energy efficiency projects that will advance both municipal and state clean energy goals. Winchester was awarded $151,475 for energy conservation measures at the and will be receiving recognition today in Watertown at 11 a.m.
  4. Jubilation Singers to Perform: The, an ensemble of 30 boys and girls from the seventh and eighth grades at will perform their spring concert Thursday, May 26 at 7:30 in the McCall Middle School Auditorium.  Admission is $5 and tickets are available at the door. A portion of the proceeds will help fund the Jubilation Singers trip to Connecticut to participate in a New England choir competition
