Today is Friday, May 6. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Bust out the shorts: Today’s a perfect day to try and cut out of work a little early. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Friday will be 73 degrees. There could be wind gusts as high as 29 mph, but it should be mostly sunny. Late Friday night and into Saturday there’s a chance of some rain.
  2. Traffic: The Massachusetts Department of Transportation will be conducting a test run of their “Zipper” Lane before they begin the , scheduled to commence at the end of the month. Between 8 p.m. Friday night and 5 a.m. Saturday morning, northbound traffic will cut over to the left lane of the southbound side. Both sides will only have two lanes of traffic during this time.
  3. Prom: on May 7 the oganizers of the (WFEE) will pitch a tent on the grass and welcome guests to their annual spring fundraiser. Those in attendance are encouraged to wear prom attire, either retro or modern and show their true colors - Winchester's red and black.
  4. Special Town Meeting: There will be a special Town Meeting at tonight at 7:30 p.m. Members will decide if they should allow the Board of Selectman to enter into a permanent transportation easement with the Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) in order to allow the MBTA to construct and maintain new ADA compliant ramps, the mini-high platform and the new drainage structure for the new ramp system at Wedgemere Station
  5. Medication Take Back: Here’s your chance to Don’t throw your medicine in the trash or in the toilet, instead bring it to the on May 7. Bring your medications to the collection site for proper and environmentally safe disposal. For privacy, cross out the name and address from all labels with a permanent marker, but do not cross out the name of the medication.
