Today is Monday, Nov. 14. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Warming Up: Expect to see some warmer weather with a chance of showers. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Monday will be 64 degrees. There’s a chance of showers after 1 p.m., as temperatures are expected to drop to 53 degrees by Monday night.
  2. Race to Nowhere:  Dr. Brooks, a psychologist on the faculty of Harvard Medical School, has lectured nationally and internationally and written extensively about such topics as resilience, school climate, parenting, and balancing our personal and professional lives. Dr. Brooks will describe specific, ” and resilience in their children and adolescents, including such qualities as self-discipline, effective problem-solving and coping skills, responsibility, and optimism. Tickets for the event will be $10 and go on sale on Tuesday, November 1 at BookEnds or by emailing Dot Butler at butlermail@aol.com with the subject line “Race to Nowhere”.
  3. Missing Goat: The along South Border Road is now
  4. Toys for Tots: in Winchester is accepting items for . Members of the community can drop off a new, unwrapped toy in collection boxes at:Get In Shape For Women, 564 Main Street. 
  5. Coat Drive: is participating in "Coast for Kids.” They are looking for all sizes from Pre-K through adult large. Hammond asks that you drop off all coats at their office, 552 Main Street, across from Starbucks.
