Today is Wednesday, Nov. 23. Here are five things you need to know.

  1. Rain, rain, (will) go away: It’s been raining all night and is expected to rain throughout the day, according to the National Weather Service. However, the rain should cease in the late afternoon or early evening and stay away through the long Thanksgiving weekend. Temperatures should reach the low 40s during the day and drop to the high 20s overnight.
  2. Five Things: Thanksgiving Day Game Edition: Thinking about heading to the game tomorrow? .
  3. Turkey Trot: Kids aged three to nine can participate in the first-ever Turkey Trot this Thursday, Nov. 24, sponsored by the Family Action Network of Winchester (FAN) and . All proceeds will benefit the Bridget Brigade Foundation, a local charity to support families caring for children with cancer. Kids will participate in age-based races and win a prize. Coffee and snacks will be provided. Pre-register at www.shanahanre.com or day-of at the field.
  4. Toy Drive: Pattycake Place, a program for children up to 2 years old held weekly at the , needs some safe, new toys for free-play. Please join FAN and  with new toys for this program. Donations will be accepted from Nov. 6 to Nov. 30. If you would like to make a cash donation, please make it out to Winchester Public Library with a memo that the funds are intended for the toy drive. Questions?
