Today is Monday, October 10. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Summer once more: One more day of summer-like weather before it reverts back to the fall. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Monday will be 80 degrees. It’s expected to be mostly sunny throughout the day, before the cool weather comes back this week. By Monday night, temperatures are expected to drop to 54 degrees.
  2. Pumpkin Patch: The of Winchester is holding a on Saturday Oct. 8 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday Oct. 9 from noon to 3 p.m.  The fair will feature a variety of games for children, face painting, pumpkin crafts, balloons, and refreshments.  The Pumpkin Patch will be open for business selling pumpkins of all sizes, gourds and seasonal decorations.  The patch is open from now through Halloween Monday through Friday from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.  Proceeds from the fair and patch will benefit the Native Americans who grew the pumpkins, the Woburn Council of Social Concern, the McCall Middle School, and the missions of the Second Congregational Church.
  3. Columbus Day: For those of us that need to work, you can expect to see less traffic on the road because schools are closed today.
  4. Fall Fest: Be sure to check out today, if you haven’t done so already. There will be face painting, pumpkin painting, fall produce and more. Today is the last day of the event.
