1.   Today will find a high temperature of 74 under partly cloudy skies. The overnight low will be around 58.

2.   Hurricane Irene did nothing to slow down the town’s plans to widen the Aberjona River. Work is currently underway with the sidewalk on the river side of Mystic Valley Parkway closed.

3.   Over in Lexington, will present soprano Carla Chrisfield and pianist William Merrill. The concert is held at First Parish Unitarian Universalist, 7 Harrington Rd. in Lexington.

4.   Monday is Labor Day, which means barbecues for many residents this weekend. If you don’t have any official plans, though, you can check out to see what’s going on in the area over the next couple of days.

5.   On this day in 1945, World War II officially came to an end with the Japanese surrender aboard the USS Missouri in Tokyo Bay.
