Today is Wednesday, September 14. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Sunny and warm: There’s a slight chance of some showers Wednesday morning, but after that it should clear up. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Wednesday will be 84 degrees. It should be mostly sunny throughout the day on Wednesday. By Wednesday night, temperatures are expected to drop to 57 degrees.
  2. Girl Scouts: The Winchester Girl Scouts kick-off the year by , on Wednesday, Sept. 14 at the from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m. Be sure to stop by and meet new friends and find out what Girl Scouting is all about. Girl Scouts are available to all girls aged 5-17.   3. Boy Scouts: Any Winchester boy interested in should head over to Crawford Memorial United Methodist Church from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m tonight to to sign up. Venturing, the newest program in Winchester is for teenagers, is co-ed, for grades 9- sophomore in college.  Venturers learn leadership skills by planning and participating activities and focus of their choosing, under the supervision of "trained" adult advisors.   4. Oktoberfest: The Winchester Rotary Club will be holding its on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The family-oriented fundraiser will also include an authentic live Oompah band, along with German food from Karl’s Sausage Kitchen in Saugus. Tickets are $30 for adults and can be purchased from Rotary members, Bookends or at the door. Proceeds from the event will be reinvested in local school, senior and community organizations through financial grants.
