Today is Thursday, September 15. Here are five things you need to know:

  1. Stormy day: Expect to see some rain and thunderstorms throughout the day. According to the National Weather Service, the high for Thursday will be 78 degrees. After raining for most of the day, it should clear up by Thursday night as temperatures will drop to 44 degrees.
  2. Picking season: Head to to pick some of its certified-organic berries.
  3. Oktoberfest: The Winchester Rotary Club will be holding its on Saturday, Sept. 24 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. The family-oriented fundraiser will also include an authentic live Oompah band, along with German food from Karl’s Sausage Kitchen in Saugus. Tickets are $30 for adults and can be purchased from Rotary members, Bookends or at the door. Proceeds from the event will be reinvested in local school, senior and community organizations through financial grants.
  4. EnKa Grants: The from organizations serving the needs of Winchester residents. The deadline for applications is October 1. A project budget and organization financial statement must be included with the requests for funding. Grant applications are also available via the web at www.enkasociety.org .
