MLK Day Events in Winchester

Check out some of the Martin Luther King Jr. Day events planned in Winchester.

Two events celebrating Martin Luther King Jr. Day are planned for Jan. 21, according to Winchester Multicultural Network and Family Action Network of Winchester press statement.

MLK Day Celebrations

Storyteller Len Cabral will be participating in a family event from 3-5 p.m. Jan. 21 at Metcalf Hall of the Winchester Unitarian Church, 478 Main St., according to the statement. The free event will also include a book fair, art work of local children, crafts and refreshments donated by Whole Foods Market.

The program is partially supported through a grant from the Winchester Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, according to the statement.

Fifty Years Later: Living the Dream - an Interfaith Service

The Winchester Interfaith Council will be having a prayer service from 7-8 p.m. Jan. 21 at St. Mary's Church, 155 Washington St., according to the statement.

"This beautiful prayer service, set to inspirational music, will offer us all a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the strength, vision, and challenge of MLK's famous 'I Have a Dream' speech on the doorstep of its 50th anniversary," reads the statement. "The service will include a screening of the entire speech."
