Medford Man Arrested on Heroin Charges After Stakeout in Somerville: Somerville Police three people including a Medford man after staking out a home in the Ten Hills neighborhood. The home was under investigation for allegedly being tied to heroin distribution, according to police reports.

After pulling over cars that had been at the home during the stakeout, police found 50 grams of heroin in one car, and in another car a baggie of heroin, 15 Clonopin pills and $1,690 in cash, according to the police report.

Melrose Faces Up To $100K Local Aid Cut in Governor's Proposal: Melrose could lose more than $100,000 in aid from state government, Mayor Rob Dolan said, as part of the half-billion worth of cuts that Gov. Deval Patrick proposed on Tuesday, in anticipation of the "fiscal cliff" combined with projected state tax revenues that are more than $500,000 lower than previously expected.

"The uncertainty of the fiscal cliff and the resulting slow down in growth, is the direct cause of our budget challenges," Patrick said. "Congress and the President must come to terms on a solution so the private sector will continue to make the kind of investments that create jobs, grow state and federal tax revenue collections and contribute to a lasting economic recovery."

Stoneham Schools Employee Allegedly Pretended to Be 14 to Solicit Nude Photo of Teen Girl: A Stoneham Public Schools employee was charged with posing a child in the nude after he allegedly pretended to be a 14-year-old boy and solicited indecent images from a 15-year-old girl in Maine.

Steven C. Orloff, 47, 189 Potter Road, of Framingham, was arraigned Wednesday in Framingham District Court on charges of distribution of obscene matter and pose or exhibit a child in the nude, said Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone in a press statement.

Framingham District Court Judge Robert Greco ordered the defendant held on $20,000 cash bail with conditions to commit no new crimes, no use of the Internet, stay away from Stoneham Public Schools, vacate his marital home, no contact with children under 18, and surrender his passport.
