Malden

Linden School 'Safe and Sound' After Knife Incident: A student at Linden Elementary School was reportedly found to be carrying a knife that was later surrendered to school officials. No one was hurt in the incident.

Melrose

: The Framingham State University student killed Friday night was also a Melrose native.

Colleen Kelly, 21, who was expected to graduate from Framingham State University in 2013, was an English major, who just completed a 12-week internship at Fuller Middle School.

. She made it halfway when she was struck in the eastbound lane, thrown into the westbound lane, where she was hit again. Both drivers stopped. Framingham Police are investigating.

Medford

Police Will Be Stationed at Medford Schools Following Newtown Tragedy: Uniformed and plain clothes police officers will be stationed at all Medford Public Schoolbuildings from now into January, among other additional security measures announced by Superintendent Roy Belson.

In an email, Belson said he met with Mayor Mike McGlynn, Police Chief Leo Sacco Jr. and other school and community officials review the district's safety procedures and safeguards in the wake of Friday's mass shooting at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT where20 children and six adults were killed before the shooter took his own life. 

"While our assessment is that our schools are safe, we have decided to take additional action steps to increase coverage and strengthen rules that will add an extra dimension to our security at all school buildings," Belson wrote.

Reading
