While construction is still a ways away and no funding for the project has been secured, the town of Winchester will not be contributing to the cost of this project.

With the institution of longer trains, these new platforms will be nearly 200-feet longer. Also, the building will need to be removed.

This new station will see an improvement in lighting, but it will also cross further into the Rangeley neighborhood. The platforms end at the same spot, just before the rotary and there will be no pedestrian tunnel by Thompson Street.
