Poor Taste

Residents have been complaining about the taste of Winchester's water supply. Many have said taht it has a "vegetable" taste.
Apparently, the taste is harmless and comes from the running off of the rain water through all the dead leaves on its way to the reservoir.

The leaves will be gathered and burned. Also, since the water level of the rservoir is so low, that adds to the taste of decaying vegetation.

John F. Kennedy's mother visted McCall Junior High School to give a lecture for the benefit of the Guild of the Infant Saviour.
1986
Super Bowl
With Thanksgiving only days away, the annual Winchester-Woburn football game had a little more meaning this year. The winner of the game would go on to play in the Division 1 Super Bowl against Peabody. The loser is done for the season.
State titles
The Winchester High School boys and girls soccer teams won state titles.
A late goal by Mark McGeehan gave the boys a 2-1 victory over Wahcinah in the Division 2 state title game. The girls won its state ttle by an identical score.

Town Meeting voted to approval Winchester to take over five family unit duplexes along Cross Street.
The town bought the property for $200,000
