Not a part-time job

The Winchester Board of Selectmen informed the community that working on the board as a member could require up to 500 hours of committment a year. And a chairman could log in over 1,000 hours.

The selectmen said that between answering complaints and concerns from residents, meetings and other work they need to do, the job is more than a part-time job.

Affordable housing

The Ledges off of Wainwright Road are currently being worked on. And because the cost of a house is so high in Winchester, the average at the Ledge is $320,000 to $503,000, the town is looking to make homes more affordable.

The developer -- Green Company -- has alread given the town $30,000 to help residents afford the homes.
