Drinking Spree

Twenty-three teenagers from Winchester and surrounding communities were involved in a drinking spree. Eight of the youths, whose ages range from 17 - 20 came from Winchester.

Neighbors called police to complain about the parties -- it was the fourth straight night for the drinking party.

The girl, whose house was hosting the parties, said her parents were out of town.

Town Elections

Racism

The Superintendent told the School Committee that there's racism and anti-Semitism in Winchester and that it must be dealt with.

"There is latent racism and anti-Semitism in this community," Superintendent Charles Mitaskos told the Star. "It may be very small, but it's got to be addressed."

Not Fenced in

The Board of Selectmen, after voting to install fences around the town's reservoirs, decided, instead, to find better ways to protect and perserve the water.

Apartment Raided

Winchester Police raided a Parkview apartment. Five people were arrested and charged with possession of heroin.
