Utah Ski Resort Names Run After Glen Doherty
Utah-based Snowbird Resort recently dedicated an unnamed run to Glen Doherty, a former Winchester resident and Navy SEAL who died in a terror attack in Benghazi, Libya.
A Utah ski resort recently dedicated an unnamed run to Glen Doherty, a former Winchester resident and Navy SEAL who died in a terror attack in Benghazi, Libya, according to the Skiing Magazine website.
The run, which has been named "Glen's," is located near the Cirque Traverse right before P-Tex Point at Snowbird Resort in Utah, according to the website. A black trail sign has been installed at the site, according to the website.
"Two early (pre-public) trams carried roughly 125 people to the dedication ceremony (on Feb. 22)," reads the website. "It was snowing, windy, and seven degrees on 10,992-foot Hidden Peak, where the run dedication took place."

Doherty was one of four Americans killed in a terror attack at the U.S. Consulate in Benghazi, Libya on Sept. 12, 2012. Doherty was a former Navy SEAL working for a private security company while living near San Diego.
Chad Zurinskas, a close friend of Doherty’s and chef at Snowbird, submitted the request that the run be named in Doherty's memory, according to the website. Zurinskas and Doherty met in 1990, adds the site.

On Jan. 31, Doherty was also honored when his number was retired during a ceremony at Winchester High School.
