Weekend Planner: A Tour, a Market and a LaRoche

Here are some suggestions of what to do this weekend.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. Every Thursday we’ll be giving you a few suggestions of things to do this weekend. And be sure to let us know of any other events in the area that you might be attending.

Where/When: 68 S Border Road, Medford, Saturday, August 20 10 a.m. to noon.

Why Go: Join Dan Sumorock on a hiking tour of the southernmost part of the Fells on the Skyline, Reservoir, and Cross Fells trails. This walk will end with a visit to Pine Hill and Wright’s Tower, where the view includes Medford, Boston, and the Blue Hills in the distance. The trails are steep and rocky in places. Wear sturdy boots and bring at least a liter of water. Meet at the Bellevue Pond parking area, South Border Rd., Medford. Rain cancels.

Where/When: Stoneham Theater, Friday, August 19 and Saturday August 20,8 p.m; Sunday, August 21, 2 p.m..

Why Go: Hot off of her PBS show taping, Loretta LaRoche has put together a new show full of information which audiences of any age will want to incorporate into their life.

Pricing: VIP Seating (Row A and B in the Orchestra): $55 per person. Ticket price includes a special “Meet & Greet” with Loretta before or after the show, time to be determined. Premium Seating $42. Standard seating $38.

Where/when: , Saturday, August 20, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why go: The Winchester Farmers Market will take place on the Common again this Saturday. There will be music at 9:30 a.m. from The Hi-Tone Ramblers, and at noon The Hoboken Philharmonic will perform. Crista Bennett will display her ceramics art, while Marlene Nalbandian will be making a dish called “Eggplant a la Grecque” and will offer some simple methods and techniques for preparing eggplant.

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: ; Saturday, August 20, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: Original arts and crafts created by over 50 artists from 10 Guilds - ceramics, painters, polymer-clay and beaders, needle arts, decorative arts, photography, woodworkers, and metalworkers guilds - will be on display. Opening Day features an outside tent sale. Artists will be on hand to discuss their work and what it means to be part of this society of artisans.

Where/When: Saturday, 10 a.m.

Why Go: The Lexington Historical Society's three historic house museums are open to the public for guided tours through October. Buckman Tavern (1 Bedford St.) and the Hancock-Clarke House (36 Hancock St.). Buckman tours are every half hour, while the Hancock-Clarke tours are every hour. Munroe Tavern (1332 Massachusetts Avenue) has tours on the hour noon to 4 p.m. Society members are free.

Pricing: Society members are free; Adult $10, Children $6.
