Weekend Planner: Baby Races and a Dragon King

Here are some suggestions of what to do this weekend.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. Every Thursday we’ll be giving you a few suggestions of things to do this weekend. And be sure to let us know of any other events in the area that you might be attending.

Where/When: Burlington Mall; Saturday, Feb. 25, 10 a.m.

Why Go: Burlington Mall prepares to host the annual Simon Mall Diaper Derby. The event is being regionally sponsored by WIC (Women, Infants and Children) Nutrition Program, and Bay State Parent magazine. Participants in this year’s Derby must be crawlers under 12 months to race against each other in a fun competition that will also include other activities such as aTiny Tots Fashion Show. Parents may bring donations including unused diapers, winter jackets and toddler clothing to be donated to Cradles to Crayons Pre-registration is required. Parents can pre-register at Guest Services or www.Facebook.com/BurlingtonMall and enter to win a $25 American Express® Simon Giftcard®.

Where/when: 40 Talbot Ave, Medford, Sunday, Feb. 26, 1 p.m.

Why go: The Eliot Pearson Children’s School presents The Dragon King by the Award-Winning Tanglewood Marionettes. All proceeds benefit the EPCS Scholarship Fund

Pricing: $6 in advance; $8 at the door.

Where/When: ; Saturday, Feb. 25, 9 a.m.

Why Go: Instruction in CrossFit includes basic to advanced level classes in functional exercise, athletic and martial conditioning, plyometrics, kettlebell training, olympic weightlifting, medicine ball training, and basic gymnastics. Register for their free Saturday Group Intro Class by calling (617) 575-9348. Each class is limited to only six people.

Where/when: , Saturday, Feb. 25, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Why go: Beginning Jan. 14 and running to March 17, Mahoney’s will be hosting an indoor farmers market at its Winchester location. The event, similar to the , will run every Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m

Pricing: Depends on what you buy.

Where/When: ; Sunday, Feb. 26, 7 p.m.

Why Go: This program is for parents looking for long-term solutions that will encourage their children to develop self-discipline, responsibility, cooperation, problem-solving skills, decision-making skills and feelings of confidence, competence and capability. This Positive Discipline six week workshop series was created by Dr. Jane Nelsen, author of the popular Positive Discipline Series.
