Weekend Planner: Boxing Match, Annie Gets Her Gun and an Indoor Farmers Market

Where/When: ; Saturday, Nov. 19; 7 p.m.

Why Go: The event will pit seven pugilists from New England against those from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, N.Y., and is expected to bring in $40,000 to $50,000 to help according to Athletic Director Brian Carroll. Former World Boxing Union (WBU) champion, Lowell’s own Micky Ward, who was the subject of the 2010 film, “The Fighter,” will be in attendance as will Winchester’s own Luca LoConte-Botis, who will fight in a special bout.

Why go: The continues Friday, Nov. 18, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the Winchester Hospital Lobby.  Free valet parking is available.  You can beat the Holiday rush and help support the Winton Club at the same time.

Where/When: ; Friday, Nov. 18, 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, Nov. 19, 2 p.m.; Sunday, Nov. 20 1 p.m. and 4 p.m.

Why Go: Winchester students in the 6th, 7th and 8th grade have been dedicated for months with Winchester Cooperative Theater's latest production, Annie Get Your Gun.

Where/When: , Saturday, Nov. 19, 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Why Go: Vendors will feature a selection of late-season produce: apples, pears, winter squash, Brussels sprouts, chard, fresh-pressed apple cider, bread, cheese, meat, fish, herbs and spices, and more. There'll be artists from the Winchester Artist Network and entertainment by the Winchester Community School. Finally, as you do your holiday shopping this year, remember to consider the Winchester Farmers Market logo items, including aprons, canvas bags, mugs, and framed prints. Part of the proceeds from the market will be donated to a new state emergency farm fund just established for farmers affected by Hurricane Irene.

Where/When: , Sunday, Nov. 20

Why Go: Do you have questions about how our town government works, how all the pieces fit together? What are the various boards, committees, and commissions, and what decisions do they make? It all starts with voters. Representatives from Town Meeting, the Town Manager’s Office, Finance Committee, and other town officials will be on hand to explain what they do and the vital role voters play in the civic life of Winchester.
