Weekend Planner: Oktoberfest and a Truck Show

Here are some suggestions of what to do this weekend.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. Every Thursday we’ll be giving you a few suggestions of things to do this weekend. And be sure to let us know of any other events in the area that you might be attending.

Where/When: ;Saturday , Sept. 24, 6 p.m.

Why Go: This family-oriented fundraiser sponsored by the Rotary Club event will include an authentic live Oompah band, along with German food from Karl’s Sausage Kitchen in Saugus. There will be various contests, as well as some other surprises including a door prize. Proceeds from the event will be reinvested in local school, senior and community organizations through financial grants.

Where/when: , Sunday, Sept. 25, 10 a.m.

Why go: There will be fire trucks and firemen on hand so curious children can ask questions and sit in the trucks.

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: ; Saturday, Sept. 24, 8 a.m.

Why Go: Local musicians will be on hand to entertain donors with live performances. Individuals who are 17 years of age (16 with parental permission in some states), meet weight and height requirements (110 pounds or more, depending on their height) and are in generally good health may be eligible to give blood.

Where/when: ; Saturday, Sept. 24 at 9:30 a.m.

Why go: Be sure to head to the Town Common for fresh fruit and vegetables. The Wicked Pickers and Randall Kromm will be entertaining the crowd with their music throughout the day.

Where/when: , Saturday, Sept. 24, 3 p.m.

Why go: Children ages 5 and up can sign pp in the Children’s Room to read to Bixby and Mariah. Bixby and Mariah are Dog B.O.N.E.S Certified Reading Partners.
