Weekend Planner: Valentine's Activities, a WIT Conference and Free Training

There's a Valentine's Day dance on Friday.

It’s Thursday, and you’ve got no idea what you’ll do for the weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. Every Thursday we’ll be giving you a few suggestions of things to do this weekend. And be sure to let us know of any other events in the area that you might be attending.

Why Go: Head down to the on Feb. 10 for a night of . The band, The Entertainers, a well-known group will be providing the music. They will serve up some great sounds, and there will be treats, and a wine and beer bar. Tickets are available at the Center. The Jenks asks that you get tickets in advance, so that they can plan and provide enough food for everyone. You may call the Center at 781-721-7136 to reserve tickets and tables.

Where/when: , Saturday, Feb. 11, 7 p.m..

Why go: Local celebrities will join members of the MIT Ballroom Dance Team to support Winchester non-profit Autism Housing Pathways. The evening will feature a group lesson, social dancing, a showcase by the MIT dancers, and the main event -- a competition where the celebrities and their MIT partners go head to head, with each couple dancing a tango, swing or jive. Snowdate is March 3.

Pricing: $75.

Why Go: Instruction in CrossFit includes basic to advanced level classes in functional exercise, athletic and martial conditioning, plyometrics, kettlebell training, olympic weightlifting, medicine ball training, and basic gymnastics. Register for their free Saturday Group Intro Class by calling (617) 575-9348. Each class is limited to only six people.

Why Go: The Winchester Multicultural Network is hosting a town-wide community conference, Winchester in Transition (WIT), on Saturday, Feb. 11 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. This day-long community conference, designed for all those who live, work, study, and worship in town, will bring together community leaders, friends and neighbors for an exciting day of exploring the challenges we face in our efforts to ensure that our town is a healthy, welcoming, resilient, and connected community. Where/When: ; Saturday, Feb. 11, 10:30 a.m.

Why Go: Come join the Family Action Network of Winchester for a fun morning of Valentine's Day craft making at the library. There will be plenty of supplies on hand to make a craft or card for family members or friends. Also, to show our appreciation of some of the invaluable members of our community, your children will have the opportunity to help decorate Valentine's Day cards to be delivered to the Winchester Fire House, Police Station, Pediatric Hospital Ward, and the Winchester Library Children's Room.
