Weekend Planner: Water Training, Concert and a Market

Here's a look at some suggestions of what to do this weekend.

Patch is coming to the rescue. Every Thursday we’ll be giving you a few suggestions of things to do this weekend. And be sure to let us know of any other events in the area that you might be attending.

Where/When: Winchester Boat Club, Saturday, August 13 9:30 a.m. to noon.

Why Go: The Mystic River Watershed Association (MyRWA) will hold a Citizen Scientist Training Workshop. This Workshop allows interested volunteers to learn about water quality monitoring methods and concepts.By completing this workshop, you’ll be prepared to join MyRWA’s Baseline Monitoring Program. You have to register for this event.

Where/When: , Saturday, August 13, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Why Go: This is the three free concert of the summer. Two bands, Public Interest and Chris Nauman & Friends, will be performing at the second annual Rockin' Robbins Concert.

Where/when: , Saturday, August 13, 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Why go: The Winchester Farmers Market will take place on the Common again this Saturday. There will be music at 9:30 a.m. from Julia Cirignano, while Mary Hart will display her calligraphy and cards.

Pricing: Free.

Where/When: ; Saturday, August 13, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Why go: Original arts and crafts created by over 50 artists from 10 Guilds - ceramics, painters, polymer-clay and beaders, needle arts, decorative arts, photography, woodworkers, and metalworkers guilds - will be on display. Opening Day features an outside tent sale. Artists will be on hand to discuss their work and what it means to be part of this society of artisans.

Where/When: Saturday, 10 a.m.

Why Go: The Lexington Historical Society's three historic house museums are open to the public for guided tours through October. Buckman Tavern (1 Bedford St.) and the Hancock-Clarke House (36 Hancock St.). Buckman tours are every half hour, while the Hancock-Clarke tours are every hour. Munroe Tavern (1332 Massachusetts Avenue) has tours on the hour noon to 4 p.m. Society members are free.

Pricing: Society members are free; Adult $10, Children $6.
