Where to Celebrate Easter in Winchester

Check out what services and events are going on around Winchester in celebration of Easter and Holy Week.

  • Holy Thursday: 9 a.m. sung morning prayer; 7:30 p.m., Eucharist, washing of the feet, Eucharistic Procession and Adoration of the Sacrament;
    10:45 p.m., sung night prayer.
  • Good Friday: 9 a.m., sung morning prayer; 3 p.m., way of the cross, veneration of the cross; 7:30 p.m. liturgy and reading of the Passion, veneration of the cross and communion service.
  • Holy Saturday: 9 a.m., sung morning prayer; 3 p.m. to 4 p.m., Reconciliation.
  • Easter Vigil: Saturday, 8 p.m. blessing and lighting of new fire, Vigil readings, renewal of Baptism promises and Eucharist.
  • Easter: 7:30 a.m., Church; 9 a.m., Church and Manion Hall; 11:15 a.m. Church and Manion Hall. There will be no 5 p.m. mass.

  • Maundy Thursday: At 7:30 p.m. there will be a choral Eucharist with a foot washing. And at 8:45 p.m., the rector will be turned into the Garden of Gethsemane and be used for quiet prayer.
  • Good Friday: At 7 a.m. there will be a prayer book liturgy with Communion; 2 p.m., Confessional 4 p.m., the children's Stations of the Cross; and 7:30 p.m., there will be a prayer book liturgy with music and the veneration of the cross.
  • Holy Saturday: Beginning at 9:30 a.m. there will be a prayer book liturgy. Easter Vigil with Baptism and the First Eucharist of Easter will begin at 7:30 p.m.
  • Easter Sunday: At 7:30 a.m. there will be the Eucharist celebration and at 9 a.m. and 11:15 a.m. there will be a choral Eucharistic celebration.

  • Holy Thursday: Service begins at 6:30 p.m.
  • Good Friday: There will be a solemn prayer service at 6 a.m.
  • Easter Sunday: 7 a.m., sunrise service on Sandy's Island at the Town Common; 9 a.m., church breakfast; 10:30 a.m., The Occasional Brass Quintet plays Easter selections; 10:45 a.m., Easter Worship, with choir, brass, timpani; noon, Easter egg hunt.

  • Maundy Thursday: The service will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the sanctuary. 
  • Easter Sunday: There will be a service and baptism at 9 a.m. That will be followed by a pancake breakfast at 10 a.m. There will be worship at 11 a.m.

  • Easter Sunday: There will be no Sunday school and the Easter breakfast will be held at 9 a.m. and the service will begin at 10 a.m.
  • Holy Thursday: There will be mass at 7:30 a.m. in the upper church.
  • Good Friday: At the upper church, beginning at 9 a.m. there will be a morning prayer; 3 p.m., the living Stations of the Cross; 7:30 p.m. there will be a Good Friday service.
  • Holy Saturday: Morning prayer will begin at 9 a.m. and the Easter Vigil is at 8 p.m. -- both at the upper church
  • Easter Sunday: Service will be held at 8 a.m. in the upper church and at 10 a.m. and 11:30 at the upper and lower church.
  • Easter Sunday worship service on April 24 at 10:30 a.m. in the sanctuary, no family worship. 

  •   Easter Sunday: Service begins at 10:30 a.m.
