Winchester High Hockey Teams Off to Strong Starts

Both the girls' and boys' teams face tough tests tonight at Woburn.

The Winchester High boys’ ice hockey team stayed perfect Wednesday with a 6-1 win at Belmont.

The Sachems went to 3-0-2 with the victory, while Belmont fell to 3-5-0.

Winchester has beaten Belmont, Watertown and Stoneham so far this season and tied Reading and Wakefield. They’re one of four undefeated teams remaining in the Middlesex League’s Liberty Division – Arlington, Reading and Woburn are the others.

The high school’s girls’ ice hockey team lost 3-0 at Belmont Wednesday.

The girls’ team is now 4-2 on the season; Belmont is 2-2-1.

The Sachems’ squads will be at Woburn’s O’Brien Rink tonight. The girls’ game starts at 6 p.m., the boys’ at 8 p.m.

Both Winchester squads should have their hands full. The Woburn girls’ team is 5-0-1 and was No. 4 in the state in Boston.com’s initial rankings. The Woburn boys’ team is 3-0-2 and was No. 18 in the rankings.
