UPDATE: NWS Issues a Blizzard Watch for Winchester Region

The National Weather Service has issued a Blizzard Watch that goes into effect Friday morning through Saturday afternoon. Winchester may see one to two feet of snow.

The National Weather Service issued a Blizzard Watch Wednesday afternoon, as Middlesex County—including Winchester—may see 1-2 feet of snow Friday through Saturday, according to the NWS website.

"A potential historic winter storm and blizzard is expected to drop (one) to (two) feet of snow across much of the region Friday into Saturday," reads the Blizzard Watch report.

The National Weather Service issued a Winter Storm Watch Wednesday morning, as Winchester could see more than a foot of snow, according to the NWS website.

"A major winter storm will bring the potential for a foot or more of snow across much of the region Friday into early Saturday," reads the Winter Storm Watch report, which was posted at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, "and travel may become nearly impossible."

The Winter Storm Watch will be in effect starting late Thursday night through Saturday afternoon, according to the website.

"Light snow will have developed by Friday morning," reads the site. "The snow will become heavy ... Friday afternoon and especially Friday night. The snow will taper off from west to east on Saturday."

Southern New Hampshire and northern Massachusetts, including Middlesex County and Winchester, are expected to receive the most snow, with more than a foot in the forecast.

There is a slight chance of snow after 2 a.m. Friday, with increasing clouds and temperatures hitting a low of about 19, according to the forecast for Winchester. Snow will likely pick up at 10 a.m., with temperatures peaking at about 34, according to the forecast.

Conditions will be "blustery" Friday night, with winds in the 9-17 miles per hour range and temperatures dipping to a low of about 22, according to the forecast.

Snow may fall before 3 p.m. Saturday, with temperatures hitting a high near 28, according to the forecast. Temperatures will drop to single digits overnight, the forecast adds.
