Wind Advisory in Effect for Winchester

A wind advisory is in from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Looks like it's going to a bit blustery today with winds strong enough to down tree limbs and cause isolated power outages. 

The National Weather Service (NWS) has issued a wind advisory for all of Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Connecticut and southern New Hampshire. The advisory is in effect starting at 11 a.m. and ending at 7 p.m. 

NWS states that there is a "high probability" of west winds of 25 to 35 miles per hour with gusts up to 50 miles per hour. There is also a "low possibility" that a few gusts may get up to 60 miles per hour.

Gusts that fast may cause some damage. According to the NWS, winds may be capable of downing small tree limbs and branches and cause isolated power outages. Driving may also be difficult, especially for vehicles with high profiles.

According to NWS a wind advisory is issued when sustained winds are forecast to be between 31 an 39 miles per hour or when gusts are expected to be between 46 and 57 miles per hour.
