• Class #1- Stay Safe Out There! : How to be worry-free when taking young children into the woods

9:00am to Noon, Ages 3-6yrs, accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Do you want your children to play outside with other young kids, but worry that they could get hurt or scared while exploring? Do you feel like you can’t let them touch ANY plants because you’re not 100% sure which one could be poison ivy? Are you afraid that if they get a scrape or bug bite, they won’t want to play outside anymore? Let’s learn together about the common hazards of playing in the wild and how to avoid them so that you can have confidence that you’re keeping your kids as safe as can be when you take them to the woods, or even the backyard! Learn how to how to avoid Lyme Disease! By the end of this class you’ll be able to identify common poisonous and dangerous plants, insects, and a few mushrooms, know how to avoid and treat bites and stings, and learn strategies for helping to instill a love of nature rather than fear of the unknown into our children and ourselves!

• Class #2 – Surprise! : Sneaking, Hiding, and Spying Games for Modern-Day Scouts

1:00pm to 4:00pm, Ages 7+, accompanied by a parent or guardian. Space is limited.

“Scouts” in most societies have been known as the eyes and ears of the people. They are charged with looking out for the safety of their families, finding food and shelter, and using all their skills and instincts to achieve important missions for the success of their people. Come learn one of the most important skills for a modern-day scout: How to hide, sneak, listen, and learn from the natural world around you. Learn how to become invisible as you move through the woods, or even through a crowded room. Learn how to notice everything around you without moving an inch. Wear earth-toned clothes and be prepared to get VERY muddy. Warning: By the end of this class, participants will be able to surprise un-aware family members with ease and giggles. Skip the class at your own risk!

** Please join us for a Potluck Lunch from Noon to 1:00pm, to spend time with new friends from workshops! **
