Join the Jewish Alliance for Law and Social Action for a special benefit concert of 16th and 17th century music featuring:

Seven Times Salt

Seven Times Salt is a Boston-based early music ensemble specializing in repertoire of the 16th and 17th centuries. Praised for their creative programming and "impeccably-balanced sound," the group has delighted audiences throughout New England, including Boston's Museum of Fine Arts, The Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum, Plimoth Plantation, the New England Folk Festival, and WGBH radio. Seven Times Salt revels in blurring the lines between "art music" and folk tunes.

Playing viola da gamba and bass for Seven Times Salt is Joshua Schreiber Shalem, who alongside his fantastic work with the group is also a part of other ensembles including Long & Away, Musica Nuova, Capella Clausura and Meravelha, playing in a diversity of classical musical styles. Joshua is also a celebrated musical educator and cantorial soloist in the Boston Jewish community.

Performing:

Sufficient Grounds A program featuring the music of Purcell, Matteis, Uccellini, Rossi, Zanetti and others, including orginal compositions. The various work is united by a common reliance on the ground bass, a repeated harmonic pattern that forms the basis of some of the most memorable music from the 17th century. English consorts, Italian dances, Spanish divisions and Scots tunes all relied on grounds as a common currency. Seven Times Salt is excited to share music from these varied composers and traditions with you.   Suggested donation: $18 (or $36 or more if you can)
