The Phantom Tollbooth Jr.

Arlington Children’s Theatre Presents The Phantom Tollbooth by Norton Juster

Directed by Thomas Martinez with Choreography by Maya Bermudes

Arlington Children’s Theatre proudly announces its 2012 fall production, The Phantom Tollbooth. Collaborating with Arlington Center for the Arts for the fourth year, The Phantom Tollbooth focuses on the importance of reading. This musical version of a modern tale follows the adventures of Milo, a boy who must save the princesses Rhyme and Reason and reunite the brother Kings of Dictionopolis and Digitopolis. Aided by a trusty time-keeping dog, Tock, Milo successfully brings harmony to the Land of Wisdom and learns many things about words and numbers along his journey. Perhaps the most important lesson he takes with him, however, is that everything we learn has a purpose and whatever we do affects everything and everyone. When he returns home, he realizes there is never a reason to be bored in a world full of so many things to discover.

The production features Winchester resident Joel Ruben-Meyer, a 6th grade student at the McCall Middle School, as Milo. It also includes 33 ACTors ages 7-12 from 10 surrounding towns and cities. Director Thomas Martinez describes Tollbooth as "a fun and musical journey through an imaginary land, with a script that highlights the importance and depth of language."

The Phantom Tollbooth will be performed at The Arlington Center for the Arts at 41 Foster Street in Arlington. The three public performances will be Friday Nov 9th at 7PM, Saturday Nov 10th at 7PM, and Sunday Nov 11th at 2PM.  Tickets are $8.00 and will be available at the door or online at http://act.arlington.ma.us/shows/#Tollbooth.  You can also visit the Arlington Children's Theatre on facebook.
