Winchester Cooperative Theatre presents "Oklahoma!"

The Winchester Cooperative Theatre for Children presents “Oklahoma!,” a Rodgers & Hammerstein classic and a joyous celebration of frontier life in the early 1900s Western Indian Territory. The high-spirited rivalry between the local farmers and the cowboys provides the colorful background against which Curly, a handsome cowboy and Laurey, a winsome farm girl, play out their love story.  Although the road to true love never runs smoothly, they will succeed in making a new life together in a brand new state - Oklahoma!

“Oklahoma!” was Rodgers & Hammerstein’s first collaboration and it remains, in many ways, their most innovative, having set the standards and established the rules of musical theatre still being followed today.  Fifty Winchester 6th, 7th and 8th graders will perform a lively production of this enduring and memorable classic on Friday, November 16th and Saturday, November 17th at 7:30 pm and Sunday, November 18th at 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm.  Tickets are $15 each.  For ticket information, call 781-721-PLAY or email wincooptheatertickets@gmail.net.  The show is suitable for ages 3 and up and the McCall auditorium is wheelchair accessible.
