Winchester Named One of the Best Places to Live

Winchester made the Boston Magazine list.

Winchester was named one of the “Best Places to Live” by Boston magazine in the March 2012 issue.  It was named in the article’s “Swanky Town Smackdown” section that pitted some of the most popular towns in the Boston area up against each other. 

The magazine declared Winchester the winner of the “commute time to Boston” section because it’s only 16 minutes away. Winchester won “for its lack of T crossings and lights.”

According to the magazine, the median home price in Winchester is $739,900.

Winchester also received high marks for its Town Center, getting a 9 out of 10. According to Boston Magazine, "with brick sidewalks, park benches, and street lamps, the retail center is as cute as a button."

Boston Magazine listed and as two of the town's top boutiques, while the new restaurant is the town's most notable.

According to the magazine, Winchester schools rank 20th in the state and it also received points for being the home to Olympic gymnast,
