No Mega CVS: Help Preserve Your Town!

Has anyone in the town been following the developing story of the campaign effort against the construction of the MEGA CVS taking place around Winchester? This story is not only effecting the surrounding neighborhoods in the proposed developing sight plan (Washington st/Swanton st) but has already displaced several small home town businesses and could also have a strong impact on the Winchester center local businesses in a negative light. Winchester already has a CVS in the center of town and a new local drug store (Winchester Pharmacy, http://winchesterrx.com) has just opened its doors.

Questions the town and community should consider…

1. Why does a small historical town need three pharmacies?
2. Does the town community, board of selectmen, planning board, zoning board of appeal, traffic advisory council want to support keeping the historical charm and safety of Winchester?
3. Do we as a community want to support all local businesses?
4. Do we care about all the safety concerns about the proposed development sight (i.e. children foot traffic to and from surrounding schools & sports fields, surrounding retirement community/nursing homes, bicyclists, dog walkers/foot traffic, traffic volume and accident increases, theft and impact on property values)?
